About Crafting Connections

A Creative, Welcoming Space for Every Maker

Crafting Connections is an independent craft and haberdashery shop in Hastings, bursting with colour, ideas and inspiration. From fabric, thread and yarn to paper, embellishments, tools and those all-important finishing touches, you’ll find supplies for all kinds of creative projects — along with friendly advice whenever you need it.

Whether you’re trying something new or have been making for years, you’ll always receive a warm welcome.

Meet Theresa

Crafting Connections was founded by Theresa Hodge, a lifelong maker with a passion for colour, creativity and bringing people together.

Before opening the shop, Theresa worked from her studio at the Clifton Centre in St Leonards, running workshops, sharing her skills and connecting with fellow makers. She also spent many years delivering disability equality training and consultancy, helping organisations make their services more accessible and supporting disabled people to live independently.

As a visually impaired person, Theresa has always championed equality and inclusion. Opening Crafting Connections was her lifelong dream: a colourful, welcoming place where everyone can feel comfortable, inspired and able to create.

More Than a Shop

With the support of her friendly team, Theresa has created a space where customers can browse, chat, ask questions and explore ideas at their own pace. Together, they keep the shop running smoothly while making sure every visitor feels welcome and supported.

Crafting Connections is also a lively creative hub, offering workshops, demonstrations, social crafting sessions and hands-on activities for different ages and abilities. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced maker, you’ll find encouragement, inspiration and good company.
